n. A backgammon playing cyberbot, or intelligent software program that plays backgammon on the Internet.

Gammonbots range from average to world class at the game. Most gammonbots are based on neural net programming, a technique used to simulate how the brain processes and responds to things.

Some gammonbots play one point matches (no doubling cube) but more sophisticated ones can also play the cube. Several gammonbots are derived from commercial stand-alone backgammon programs using the same game play engines.

Several backgammon servers, including FIBS and GameGrid, host gammonbots. To look for gammonbots on FIBS, check the players with the highest experience points, these are often silicon sharks. Check out the FIBS Bots Page for a list of the known gammonbots and links to more information about them.
