A problem checklist

When you report a problem, please provide as much relevant information as possible. (Here's the entire, actual text of a one email request for help:

It's difficult to provide a single list that covers all situations, but here are questions I often ask users who report problems. Please review this list and provide the appropriate information in your first message, so that I can help resolve your problem more quickly.

1. What version of MacFIBS are you using?
2. Have you used MacFIBS successfully before, or is it brand new to you?
3. Are you an experienced Internet surfer, or new to all this Internet stuff?
4. Are you sure you have the necessary software, hardware, and settings to connect to the Internet?
5. Can you successfully use other Internet software like Netscape or Eudora?
6. Have you checked the FIBS Status Page or the backgammon newsgroup to see whether the server may be down?
7. Have you changed anything recently (hardware, software) that might relate to the problem?
8. How far did you get before you started having trouble?
9. What was on the terminal just before you ran into problems?
10. What TCP, PPP, and Mac OS system software are you running?
11. Have you tried deleting the MacFIBS Preferences file?
12. Have you read through this MacFIBS Help documentation?

This is not an exhaustive list. I'm willing to help you resolve a problem, and the more information you provide, the easier it will be to help you.
