Registering MacFIBS

The information on the page is identical to the contents of the SimpleText file "How to Register MacFIBS" in the MacFIBS folder. It is repeated here in MacFIBS Help in case you misplaced or deleted that file.

MacFIBS is shareware. I encourage you to try MacFIBS to see whether you enjoy playing backgammon on the FIBS server. If you become a regular member of the FIBS community, I ask you to register your copy of MacFIBS. Your shareware fees help offset the expense of developing and supporting MacFIBS.

Registering MacFIBS is simple, and the price is an affordable US $20 per user. If you are over 65 years old, the price is only $10.

Note: If you paid your registration fee for an earlier version of MacFIBS, you do not need to pay again for version 4.0.

About Kagi

Payments are handled by Kagi, a very reputable company that handles payment processing for many shareware authors. Kagi provides several options to make it easy to pay by mail or electronically.

There are three ways to register your copy of MacFIBS:

    1. Using a browser to connect to the Kagi ordering Web site,
    2. Using the "Register MacFIBS" application to email, mail, or fax your order to Kagi, or
    3. Sending your registration directly to me.

Using the Kagi ordering Web site

Launch your browser and go to the MacFIBS Order Page at the Kagi Web site: <http://order.kagi.com/?2YW>

You can register using a credit card, just as you might at other eCommerce sites. One advantage of using this Web site is that the ordering information is available in several different languages besides English.

Using the "Register MacFIBS" utility

    Register MacFIBS
Double-click the Register MacFIBS icon to launch the application and enter your name, email address, and number of licenses you desire.

Save, copy or print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi.

If paying by credit card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi.

      Kagi's Email address is sales@kagi.com
      Kagi's fax number is +1 510 652-6589

You can either copy (Cmd-C) the data from the Register MacFIBS program and paste (Cmd-V) into the body of an email message, or save the data to a file and attach the file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just print the data to the Kagi fax number.

Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgment when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct Internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgment.

If you are paying with cash or USD check you should Print the data from the Register MacFIBS application and send it to the postal address shown on the form, which is:

      Kagi Shareware
      1442-A Walnut Street #392-2YW
      Berkeley, California 94709-1405
      USA

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.

Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.

Problems or questions about the Kagi payment service should be directed to Kagi. The Kagi Web site contains an excellent FAQ explaining how the Register program works and the various payment options.

Registering directly with Paul Ferguson

Some people may be uncomfortable providing credit card numbers over the Internet, or providing information to Kagi. If you prefer to send your registration payment directly to me rather than using Kagi, I am happy to accept it. Send a check or cash (US dollars only, please) to:

    Paul Ferguson
    258 Rodonovan Drive
    Santa Clara, CA 95051

Thanks!

I appreciate your support. Your shareware fees help defray the costs to develop and support MacFIBS. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact me at pdferguson@mac.com.
