This morning (Sunday the 23rd) I had a few hours to kill before catching a train to Germany. So I hopped on the metro, and emerged at the Arc de Triomphe (pictured above.)
From there, it was a lovely
walk to the
Eiffel Tower
which is truly not-to-be-missed. 35 FF (about $7) will take you to
the second observation platform, but it's worth an extra 20FF and ten
minute wait to go all the way to the top.
At the bottom, there's a lovely park, with a beautiful, quiet little
pond just a few feet away from the east pillar. I recommend spending
a few mintues there, just contemplating what it would take to build
something like that.
When you're done, pick your jaw up, hop the metro down to St. Michel,
and grab a banana and nutella crepe.
